Sunrise over planet Eon, Textures and stars were done in photoshop, scene rendered entirely in 3dsmax with no post processing in ps. Approx 60hrs work, actual resolution 3840x2400.

Getting to grips with max again.

Hmmm, see, I'm wondering about 3D more and more, is it in your opinion better to do celestial work in 3D? I suppose it could always be better but it just seems faster in 2D.

Alice came to a fork in the road...
"Which road do I take?"she asked.
"Where do you want to go?"responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know,"Alice answered.
Then said the cat,"it doesn't matter"

3d is ok for the planets (for me at least) though it is a little over complicated it does give you better overall control. Off course, for textures, star fields and nebulae there is nothing better than photoshop.

Hmm, interesting, well, I suppose if you wanted to do an animation of the planet, that can come handy. And you can take it at any angle too.

Seeing as my boss bought me $2000 worth of tutorials for 3D max, I'm kinda getting pushed into 3D whether I like it or not. :/

I've just always felt safe in my 2D world. :)

We'll see how it goes though.

beautifully rendered. I am always amazed at the high quality of work you produce, especially since 3D is not a quick process at all.

Simple but really strong composition.
